Syahadat Ramli rode to Malaysia’s rescue as the hosts overcame a top-order collapse to beat Thailand by five wickets in the opening match of the 2019 Malaysia T20I Tri Series at the Kinrara Oval on Monday. After capturing three wickets for seven runs to restrict Thailand to 113-8, Syahadat hit a match-winning unbeaten 41 to steer Malaysia to 114-5 with three overs to spare and take match honours.
Mahsid Faheem shook Malaysia in the first over after Virandeep Singh and Shafiq Sharif both got an edge to fall without scoring and with only two keeps running on the board. Syahadat went to the wrinkle after Ahmad Faiz Mohammad Noor withdrew for 11 and with Anwar Arudin (18) taking action accordingly the following over, balanced out Malaysia’s innings through a 67-run represent the fifth wicket with Syed Aziz Syed Mubarak (27).
