Dipa Karmakar became the first Indian to qualify for the artistic gymnastics at the Rio Olympics 2016.The 23 years old from Tripura finished eighth in the qualification events of the Vaults and scored 14.850 to qualify for final round.The finals of the artistic Gymnastics will be held on August 14, Sunady at 2315 hrs IST.
Dipa secured 7.000 on difficulty and 8.1 on execution in first attempt.In second attempt difficulty level was 6.000.
Three-time world all-round champion Simone Biles topped the charts with 16.050.

Karmakar is one of the five women that have successfully landed the very difficult Produnova vault in competition. She also won a bronze at the Asian Gymnastics Championships .Karmakar finished fifth at the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. She is the first Indian Gymnast to qualify for Olympics .
