 Italy Triump Over Hong Kong in ICC CWC Challenge League B Clash.Italy cruised to a comfortable 7-wicket victory over Hong Kong, China in their ICC CWC Challenge League B encounter at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground.  Italy chased down the target of 147 with ease, reaching 147/3 in just 23.2 overs.

Hong Kong, China batted first and were restricted to 146 all out in 36 overs.  Despite a quickfire 30 from Babar Hayat and a resilient 37 from captain Yasim Murtaza, the Hong Kong innings struggled to gain momentum.  Wayne Madsen was the chief destroyer for Italy, taking two wickets for just 4 runs, including the crucial wicket of Murtaza. Jaspreet Singh was also instrumental with his 4 wickets for 27 runs, while Gareth Berg chipped in with 2 wickets.  Martin Coetzee’s early dismissal for 8 and a string of lower-order wickets further hampered Hong Kong’s progress.

Italy’s chase got off to a shaky start with the early loss of Justin Mosca for a duck. However, Marcus Campopiano steadied the ship with a well-composed 46, forming a crucial partnership with Anthony Mosca (15). Wayne Madsen then continued his impressive all-round performance, anchoring the chase with an unbeaten 73 off 72 balls, including 10 fours and a six.  Nicholas Maiolo provided valuable support with a quickfire 7 not out.  Ayush Shukla picked up two wickets for Hong Kong, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Italy from securing a dominant win.

Italy’s disciplined bowling performance and Madsen’s stellar all-round display were the highlights of the match.  Hong Kong, China will need to regroup and improve their batting performance in their upcoming matches.
