The total prize pool for the tournament stands at **$6.9 million**, marking a **53% increase** from the **2017 edition**, where Pakistan emerged victorious at The Oval.

The tournament retains its **eight-team format**, divided into two groups of four. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals. Beyond the financial rewards, this tournament fuels intense competition, captivates fans worldwide, and plays a crucial role in nurturing the growth and sustainability of cricket for future generations.”*

The tournament kicks off on **February 19** in **Karachi**, with hosts **Pakistan** facing **New Zealand** in the opening match. This marks the first time an ICC tournament is being held in Pakistan since they co-hosted the **1996 World Cup**. However, **India’s matches** will be played in **Dubai** due to travel restrictions, with their group-stage games scheduled against **Bangladesh (February 20)**, **Pakistan (February 23)**, and **New Zealand (March 2)**. The **Champions Trophy** will continue as an **eight-team event** held every **four years**. Looking ahead, the **Women’s Champions Trophy** will debut in **2027**, adopting the **T20 format**, further expanding the reach and appeal of the game. This edition of the Champions Trophy not only promises high-stakes cricket but also reinforces the ICC’s efforts to elevate the sport’s global stature.
