Jasprit Bumrah to Miss Mumbai Indians’ First Three Matches in IPL 2025
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to kick off on Saturday, March 22, with defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders facing Royal Challengers Bangalore at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. As the tournament approaches, five-time champions Mumbai Indians have been labeled as strong favorites, boasting a formidable pace attack comprising Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, and Deepak Chahar.
However, Mumbai Indians will have to begin their campaign without their star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who is set to miss the team’s first three matches. According to a report by The Times of India, Bumrah will be unavailable for the first two weeks of the tournament and is expected to join the Mumbai Indians camp in April.
Tough Start for Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians will play their first match of IPL 2025 on March 23 against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The franchise had a dismal run in IPL 2024, finishing last (10th place) in the standings with just 8 points from 14 matches.
With less than two weeks remaining before the start of the new season, Mumbai Indians are now faced with the challenge of beginning their campaign without their main strike bowler. If Bumrah remains unavailable for two weeks, it means he will miss at least three matches for Mumbai.
Captain Hardik Pandya Also Unavailable
Adding to Mumbai Indians’ concerns, their newly appointed captain Hardik Pandya is also set to miss the opening matches. He is serving a suspension due to slow over-rate penalties incurred in the previous season.
As Mumbai Indians prepare for IPL 2025, they will have to find a way to navigate the early phase of the tournament without two of their most crucial players.
