The Sharjah Cricket Stadium will once again be in the spotlight when the DP World International League T20 starts in 10 days. The renowned venue holds the record for hosting the most One Day International matches. Since the rise and global popularity of the T20 format, Sharjah has been a go-to venue for T20 cricket. The DP World ILT20 is UAE’s first official T20 league, and the Sharjah Warriors will host eight tournament matches including a playoff. In addition to the Warriors, top players from the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Desert Vipers, Dubai Capital, Gulf Giants and MI Emirates will look to light up the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

The Sharjah Cricket Stadium has had a storied history of hosting international cricket matches. So far, it has hosted 29 T20Is, 9 Tests, and a record 244 One Day Internationals (ODIs) – the most ODIs for any cricket venue in the world. Highest T20 individual score and centuries at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium: 127 colin Ingram KK

Colin Ingram holds the record for the highest individual score at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, with his outstanding performance in a 2019 Pakistan Super League match. He scored an unbeaten 127 runs, off of 59 balls with 12 fours and 8 sixes, in Karachi Kings’ 187-run chase against Quetta Gladiators.

Most runs conceded by a bowler in a T20 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium:

Siddarth Kaul holds the dubious distinction of having conceded the most runs at this ground in a T20 match. In an Indian Premier League 2020 match, while representing the Hyderabad Sunrisers, he gave up 64 runs in four overs against the Mumbai Indians.

T20 hat-tricks at the Zayed Stadium:

The venue has seen a total of five T20 hat-tricks recorded. The first was achieved by Imran Tahir for the Multan Sultans against the Quetta Gladiators during a 2018 Pakistan Super League match. Ben Cutting took one for Kandahar Knights in an Afghanistan Premier League match against Nangarhar Leopards in the same year. Mohammad Sami picked up a hat-trick spell in a 2019 Pakistan Super League match for Islamabad United against Peshawar Zalmi. Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga took a hat-trick in the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup against South Africa. Kagiso Rabada produced a hat-trick against England at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in 2021 ICC T20 World Cup.
