Zimbabwe will look to Kelis Ndhlovu to lead by example at the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, as the team’s captain and one of only two players with senior team experience. Ndhlovu, at just 17 years old, has already proven herself as a valuable player for the senior team, with 15 wickets at an average of 11.46 as a left-arm orthodox spinner, and 285 runs at an average of 23.75 as an opener. She also played a key role in Zimbabwe’s semi-final finish at the Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier, where she was the leading wicket-taker with 11 scalps at an average of 9.36.
Key Player RWANDA U19 Women
Gisele Ishimwe, an all-rounder and seam bowler with extensive senior international experience, will lead Rwanda in the tournament as captain. She is the only player at the tournament to have hit a T20I century, having scored 114* against Eswatini in the 2021 Africa Qualifier for the T20 World Cup. Ishimwe also has two T20I fifties and a standout performance against Kenya in June 2022, where she scored 56* and took a crucial late wicket. As captain, she will also bowl first change and is crucial to Rwanda’s chances of making a Cinderella run in the tournament.
