South Africa cricket board has announced it Test Team squad for West Indies tour to South Africa in December and January. Starting from 17 December with side game. Hasim Alma has been appointed as Test Team Squad Captain. JP dumminy is unfit which was another planning candiate for Test Captaincy in this south Africa vs West Indies tour. He had been injured in south tour to Australia last month. Stiaan van Zyl , new player, has been picked for Test team Squad who will make his Test debut against West Indies in this series in replacement of JP Duminy’s. The SA Test Team squad also includes two more uncapped players in Lions’ duo Temba Bavuma, a top-order batsman, and Kagiso Rabada, the young seamer .Robin Peterson has also been re called for Test series with his great come back performance in Australia ODI.

How Alviro Petersen still makes it into the Test Squad beats me like a Malinga Yorker in the death of an ODI match! It’s been almost two years since he has scored 100 runs in a test… no, not a century in an innings, 100 runs in a match. In 33 matches he has only once passed 50 in the second innings. Surely there are better players out there, I will even give Rossouw a chance in the test squad ahead of Alviro.

Bavuma doesn’t look that great on paper either, let’s hope he shines in international format otherwise SA can wave the #1 spot goodbye! I don’t mind RobbyP, I like him, but I felt that Harmer deserves a chance as well. Van Zyl’s selection is also overdue, he should’ve replace Alviro, at the beginning of this year, if not earlier, already. Van Zyl is an excellent bat and he does have a useful Medium pacer, which is something SA needs.

Test squad debuts for Radaba and Bavuma I understand. Why? Because they great young talents who will be a part of the team in the future. Bavuma did well in the SA A series and you have to give credit to the way Radaba – a 19 year old baby faced player bowled to such batting legends as Shane Watson in Australia. Lets not forget that Rillee is already part of the International cricket structure now with the ODI team, when he starts to be consistent there, he will put pressure on a Test call up.

The only selection I am bit miffed with his Robbie Peterson. The so called all-rounder who cant actually bat or spin a ball at International level. A bowler that International Batsmen dream of facing and hitting a sixer off to go to their centuries. I think Simon Harmer has done enough to get the spinning spot in Dane Piedts absence. As the two of them were the best performing spinners last season. Robbie P’s inclusion again is very disappointing.
