Moderen Summer Olympics started from 1896 at Athens.From 1896 to 1912 xxx Olympics Games was organized .Three Olympic Games were canclled due to World War I and World War II.In 1916 Olympic games were not held because of First World War.In 1940 and 1944 Olympics Games were not held. From 1896 to 2012 many Olympic records were formed and broken in athletics.In Olympics Games athletics is divided into four groups.Ttack events,field events ,road events and combined events.
In track events sprints(100m,200m,400m,100 X4 relays, 400 x 4 relays),middle and long distance(800m,1500,3000m,5000,10000m),hurdling(110m ,400m), Field events(javelin,discus,hammer,pole vault,long jump,tripple jump,high jump),Road Events(Walks and marathon) and Combined events(the heptathlon,the decathlon).
Oldest record in athletics in Olympics Games is long Jump.In 1968 US long jumper Bob Beamon set the Olympic record of 8.90 m in 1968 Summer Olympics Mexico city.In last Olympic Game at London 2012 six men and five women records were broken.
Controversial Olympic records:
Some Olympic record were canclled by OIC.In 1988 Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson set new Olympic record in 100m final. later Johson was found guilty of using anabolic steroids and record set by Johnson was cancelled and Olympic Gold medal was given to American athlet Carl Lewis.In 2004 Hungrian athlete Robert Fazekas broke Olympic record in men’s discus throwing.Later Fazekas was stripped of gold medal and records on committing anti doping rule violation.
