David Lekuta Rudisha of Kenya became first athlete after 1964 who defended his title in Olympics in 800 meters.David Rudisha set world record in London Olympics 2012 by running 800 meters in 1:40.91.Rudisha is the first man who has run under 41 in 800 meters event.
Rudisha is double Olympic Champion in 800 meters .He won first title in 2012 London Olympics and then defended it in Rio Olympics Games 2016.
Rudisha won two World Champion ship in 800 meters in 2011 and 2015.Rudisha also won two African Championship in 2008 and 2010.He was silver medalist in Common Wealth Games 2014 at Glasgow.

In 2006 Rudisha won 800 meters event in World Junior Championship at Beijing,China with time 1:47.40.
In 2007 Rudisha won African Junior Championship in 800 meters event.He improved his record 1:46.41 at Ouagadougou,Burkina Faso.
In 2008 he went to senior category and won African Championship at Addis Ababa with time 1:44.20.
In 2009 Rudisha won first tilte in 800 meters in World Athletic Championship in Thessaloniki ,Greece.Rudisha time for this race was 1:44.85.
In 2010 at Nairobi,Kenya Rudisha won his 2nd African Championship gold medal in 800 meters event.
In 2011 Rudisha again won World Championship in Daegu ,South Korea .He won gold medal in 800 meter with time 1:43.91.
In 2012 at London Olympic Rudisha was on his career height he won first Olympic Gold medal in 800 meters with a style.He set new World Record in 800 meter event.He set the time for race 1:40.91.
In 2013 he could not compete in World Athletics Championship.
In 2014 he won silver medal in common Wealth Games.
In 2015 he won World Athletci Championship at Beijing with time of 1:45.84 .
In 2016 in Rio Olympics Games he defended his title in 800 meter successfully and won 800 meters race.He won gold medal in this event with time of 1:42.15.

In 2010 at African Championship , he set African record of 1:42.01 breaking 25 years old record set Sammy Koskei of Kenya. Koskei record for 800 meters was 1:42.28.This was the fourth best time in 800 meters event. In 2010 IAAF Diamond League he broke Sebastian Coe’s 31 years old record with a run of 1:42.04.
In 2010 Rudisha ran 800 meters race at KBC Night of Athletics in Heusden,Belgium and won the race in 1:41.51.This was the second best time in 800 meters event.On 22 August 2010 Rudisha broke 800 meter world record of Wilson Kipketer.Rudisha set new World record in 800 meters with time of 1:41.09.One week later he set new record of 1:41.01 at Rieti Diamond League Metting.
In November 2010 he became youngest ever athlete to win IAAF World Athlete of the year award.He was 21 years old at that time.He also won Kenyan Sportsman of the Year.
